Clark County (Ohio)

Clark County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Springfield.

Geography

The County is located just southwest of the geographic center of Ohio and has an area of 1045 square kilometers, of which ten square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Champaign County, Madison County, Greene County, Montgomery County and Miami County.

History

Clark County was formed on December 26, 1817 from parts of Champaign, Greene and Madison County. It was named after George Rogers Clark, a pioneer, fighter in the American Revolutionary War and Indian connoisseurs.
