Paulding is a municipality and administrative headquarters ( County Seat) of Paulding County, Ohio, United States. Paulding is located predominantly in Paulding Township. The place had 2000 3.595 inhabitants in the census.

Geography

Paulding is located at the confluence of the Ohio State Route 111 in the U.S. Highway 127 and end point of the Ohio State Route 500 The church was located on the Cincinnati Northern Railroad, but in the 1980s, this railway was dissolved. There is also a small airport, the Paulding Airport, about 3 km northeast of the center of the municipality ( FAA Code 2H8 ).

History

Paulding, founded in 1848, is located in the center of the county. 1872 Paulding was incorporated as a separate municipality.

Is named Paulding as the parent County after the Civil War hero John Paulding. Until the late 19th century, this region was swampy and covered with large areas of water. The town began as a settlement of two families and grew to 1880 on 454 inhabitants. When I succeeded, large parts of the Great Black Swamp dry up and make usable for agriculture, the population rose rapidly to about 1,800.

In Paulding a wood-processing industry, which used the resources of the surrounding forests arose.
