New Flyer

New Flyer Industries Inc. is a Canadian manufacturer of city buses. The company operates plants at its headquarters in Winnipeg ( Manitoba ) and in the U.S. cities of St. Cloud and Crookston (both Minnesota). With 2348 employees and 2164 buses delivered in 2008 New Flyer is the largest bus manufacturer in North America (41 percent market share). The buses are also partly exported to the United States, Latin America and South America.

The company was founded in 1930 and sells its buses in the U.S. and Canada. In 1988, New Flyer was the first manufacturer in the markets there is a low-floor buses. Since 2005, only low-floor vehicles are produced, there they are each in a solo and an articulated version.

The drive options currently offered are diesel, gas, electric ( trolley buses ) and diesel-electric hybrids. New Flyer already introduced before 1994 buses powered by natural gas and is considered a pioneer in the implementation of alternative drives. The world's first series-produced fuel cell hybrid buses to be delivered by the end of 2009 to British Columbia, where they are to be used during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
