New Progressive Party of Puerto Rico

The Partido Nuevo Progresista de Puerto Rico is one of the major parties in Puerto Rico. It advocates an integration of the country into the United States as the 51st state. After the 2008 election, she became the strongest party in the House of Representatives and in the Senate of Puerto Rico. It also represents the governor of the island as well as the ( non-voting ) delegates in the U.S. House of Representatives, Pedro Pierluisi.

The party was founded in August 1967, and quickly gained in importance. Most recently, she was able to celebrate a success on November 6, 2012, when the majority of the citizens of the island nation expressed in a referendum since its creation demanded by the party reception in the United States.
