History

The foundation stone was laid on April 7, 1857 by the rabbi from Kępno, Mojżesz ram ( German: Moses stem). In the years 1857-1860 the sacred building, designed by architect Moritz Landé was built in the Moorish- Byzantine style. During World War II the synagogue was damaged.

Description

The building has been designed in an eclectic combination of classicism and Moorish elements. The arched windows of the building are classical, while the turrets were tempiettoartig and Moorish provided with Stalaktitendekor. The facade was enriched with reliefs, cornices, tracery and domes. Note the similarity to the Moorish synagogues that have been created by Adolf Wolff, for example, in Ulm.

The interior of the church architecture, arcades, galleries and Aaron HaKodesh were divided with horseshoe arches and decorated in a blue -gold color combination.
