New York City FC

New York City FC is an American soccer franchise of Major League Soccer from New York City. The franchise was founded in 2013 and is expected in 2015 to record the game operation.

The cooperation of Manchester City ( majority shareholder ) and the New York Yankees ( minority owner ) will be the 20th team in the MLS. In addition to the New York Red Bulls, which are located in Harrison, New Jersey, it will be the second team from the New York Metropolitan Area.

History

MLS Commisioner Don Garber had already declared 2010 to try to settle the 20th team in New York City. He was also able to win very interested in big European clubs as investors. The potential candidates were inter alia a start-up of the legendary New York Cosmos counted. Garber had already received 2008 Contact the FC Barcelona to promote the support of a team from Miami. Stadium

The stadium will be built Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York in Flushing. This is however not finalized. Alternatively, a stadium in the Bronx could be built. Should there be a construction, would the MLS franchise for one to two years to temporarily play at another ground, because as long as the construction work would take. A possible Ausweichort could be the Yankee Stadium in the South Bronx.

Players and staff

On May 22, 2013 is named former U.S. national team Claudio Reyna as "director of football operations" ( Director of Sport ). The former player of, inter alia, Manchester City is responsible for the selection of potential players and staff.

On 6 September, the former Ahtletiktrainer the basketball team of Rutgers University, Tim Pernetti, committed as Chief Business Officer.

On December 11, 2013 Jason Kreis was confirmed as the first coach of the franchise. He did not renew his contract at Real Salt Lake and replaced on 1 January 2014 to the New Yorkers.
