Newby O. Brantly

Newby Odell Brantly ( born April 13, 1905 in Newport ( Texas), † July 19, 1993 in Frederick ( Oklahoma) ) was an American inventor and entrepreneur.

Life

Newby Brantly was born the son of William and Ida Brantly in 1905, he grew up with his two brothers Henry and Olan in the city of Newport in the U.S. state of Texas on. Brantly was married to Emma Dean Armstrong until her death in 1968 since 1932. In 1969, he married Virginia Beth Keen, with whom he had a daughter, Susan Lynne Wilkens. In 1961 he was appointed by the National Pilots Association to the pilot of the year.

His patented inventions include a knitting machine for the company Penn Elastic ( U.S. Patent 2,067,900 in 1935 ), a submersible pump (U.S. Patent 4,534,168, 1983 ), a Sports Bra ( Brantly / Cameo, U.S. Patent 5,643,043 of 1995) and backhoe for tractors.

As an entrepreneur, he founded, among others, the Brantly Helicopter Corporation, the Brantly Manufacturing Company, and in 1968 the company Frybrant in Frederick ( Oklahoma).
