Newfel Ouatah

Newfel Ouatah ( born November 8, 1985 in Lyon, Dep. Rhone, France) is a French- Algerian boxer, African champion in 2007 and Olympic athletes in Beijing in 2008.

Career

Newfel Ouatah comes from an Algerian family who emigrated from Beni Djellil to France. He grew up in Lyon and began in 1998 with the club Pugillistique Villerbannais 's Gym with the boxes. At a size of 2.00 meters and weighs approximately 91 kg and can thus alternately in the heavy or super heavyweight start. He was very successful even as a junior and was from 2000 to 2003 four consecutive French junior champion ( medium, light heavyweight, and heavyweight).

In 2004 he started for France at the Junior World Championships in Jeju / South Korea and came there in the heavyweight division after one defeat in the quarter finals against the Cubans Robert Alfonso a good 5th place.

In 2005 Newfel Ouatah French champion in the heavyweight division in the seniors for the first time. He defeated in the semifinals while John M'Bumba by demolition in the 4th round and Stephane Gomis by demolition in the 3rd round. This title he repeated in 2006 with a knockout victory in the first round in the final over John M'Bumba. In the Mediterranean Games Almeria 2005 he finished 3rd in the heavyweight division. In the semifinals, he lost it against Mohamed Homrani from Tunisia by demolition in the 3rd round.

In autumn 2006 Newfel Ouatah decided, which, in addition to the French and Algerian nationality, future launch in international championships for Algeria. He got to the French Association release.

In 2007 he was in the final of the French championship defeated on points in the heavyweight division of John M'Bumba. In the same year he was then in Antananarivo / Madagascar for the first time African champion in the heavyweight division. He defeated in the final Lamarna Conde of Guinea on points. In the All- African Games in Algiers in 2007, he reached with victories over Larmarna Conde and Remy Atsama, Cameroon, the final, where he lost on points against Emad Abdelhalim Ali of Egypt ( 8:17 ).

In 2008, Newfel Ouatah qualified at a tournament in Algiers with wins over Stephane Gomis, Senegal and Mohamed Amanissi, Morocco, super heavyweight for participation in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In Beijing, he won his first fight in over Jose Payares from Venezuela by points ( 7-5 ), but lost in the quarterfinals against Vyacheslav Hlaskow from Ukraine by points ( 4:10 ) and thus finished 5th.

  • 2005, 3rd place, Mediterranean Games in Almeria, S, with a demolition victory in the first round of Ahmed Hefny, Egypt & a demolition defeat in the 3rd round against Mohamed Homrani, Tunisia;
  • 2005, 3rd place, Coup de Nations in Bastia, S, with a defeat in the semi-final against Ismaikel Perez, Cuba ( 6:29 );
  • 2007 1st place, Qualif. tournament to Africa Championship in Algiers, SS, with wins over Zied Didi, Tunisia and Noureddine Meddoune, Morocco;
  • 2007 1st place, Africa Championship in Antananarivo / Madagascar, SS with a win in the final over Lamarne Conde, Guinea;
  • 2007, 2nd place, All- Afrikan- Games in Algiers, SS, with point victories over Lamarna Conde ( 28:13 ) and Remy Atsama, Cameroon ( 30:15 ) and one defeat in the final against Emad Abdelhalim Ali, Egypt ( 8: 17);
  • 2008, 1st Place, African Olympic Qualif. tournament in Algiers, SS, with point victories over Stephane Gomis, Senegal ( 17:6 ) and Mohamed Amanissi, Morocco ( 21:6 );
  • 2008, 5th place, Feliks strain tournament in Warsaw, SS, after one defeat in the quarterfinals against Evgeni Ljachowets, Belarus;
  • 2008, 1st place tournament in St. Quentin, SS, with a points victory in the final over Erik Pfeiffer, FRG ( 19:19 );
  • 2008, 5th place, OS in Beijing, SS, with a points victory over Jose Payares, Venezuela ( 7:5 ) and one defeat in the quarterfinals against Vyacheslav Hlaskow, Ukraine ( 4:10 )
