Newton Holanda Gurgel

Newton Holanda throat ( born 1 November 1923 in Acopiara ) is retired Bishop of Crato.

Life

Newton Holanda Gurgel received on 25 July 1948, and was ordained priest incardinated in the Diocese of Crato.

John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on 10 April 1979 in Crato and Titular Bishop of rubber in Byzacena. The Pope personally consecrated him on 27 May of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy, secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and Eduardo Martínez Somalo, Substitute of the Secretariat of State.

On November 24, 1993, he was appointed Bishop of Crato. On 2 May 2001, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
