Newtownabbey

Newtownabbey ( Irish: Baile na Mainistreach or Baile na ur Mainistreach ) is adjacent to Lisburn, the largest suburb in the Northern Irish capital of Belfast, to which it is adjacent to the north. Newtownabbey is located in County Antrim, and is the administrative center of the District Newtownabbey, Newtownabbey except the Executive Committee or the villages of Carnmoney, Glengormley, Jordanstown, Monkstown, Rathcoole and Whiteabbey.

Newtownabbey is located on the northwest shore of Belfast Lough, the bay, with the participation of Belfast is located. The city was founded in 1958 as a New Town by the merger of several smaller communities. It is a typical suburban community, but also having larger industrial areas; especially in Monkstown and Cammoney are engineering and computer companies resident. Newtownabbey is twinned with Gilbert ( Arizona). 1956 was born in Newtownabbey writer Ronan Bennett.
