NGC 1232

NGC 1232 indicates a galaxy in the constellation Eridanus. NGC 1232 has a brightness of 9.8 mag and an angular extent of 7.4 × 6.5 '. The small companion galaxy carries the NGC 1232a. Detailed observations suggest the existence of dark matter to a significant extent.

The galaxy was discovered on October 20, 1784 by the German - British astronomer William Herschel.
