NGC 6302

NGC 6302, also known as Beetle Nebula, is a planetary nebula in the constellation of Scorpio, which is 4000 light years away from Earth. NGC 6302 was formed by an aging star called HD 155520, as this has shed its outer envelope in the form of extremely rapid gas flows over the past 2,200 years. NGC 6302 was discovered in 1880 by the American astronomer Edward Barnard.
