NGC 7822

NGC 7822 is an emission nebula, a birthplace of many stars in the constellation Cepheus. The emission nebula itself is referred to as Sharpless 171, and the star cluster as Berkeley 59. It is assumed that this area is removed 800-1000 pc.

The younger stars of the cluster are a few million years old, some stars are among the hottest within 1kpc of the Sun, in particular, BD 66 1673, an eclipsing binary system consisting of a class O5V star with a surface temperature of 45,000 K and a ~ 100000 luminosity of the sun is. This star is the primary source that brings the cloud to shine, and he forms the Pillars of Creation like elephant trunks.
