Ngo Quang Kiet

Joseph Ngo Quang Kiệt ( born September 4, 1952 in My Són, Vietnam ) is Emeritus Archbishop of Hanoi.

Life

Its name combines Western tradition names (Joseph as a first name before the family name Ng ) with Vietnamese ( Quang Kiệt as a personal name stands behind the family name ).

Joseph Ngo Quang Kiệt received on 21 May 1991, the sacrament of Holy Orders. On 3 June 1999 by Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Long Són and Cao Bang. The episcopal ordination took place on 29 June of the same year. On April 26, 2003 Ngo Quang Kiệt was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Hanoi. As a motto he chose Misereor super turbam.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 19 February 2005 for the Archbishop of Hanoi. 29 May 2007 Joseph Ngo Quang Kiệt was appointed a member of the Pontifical Council "Cor Unum ". 13 May 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. by Joseph Ngo Quang the Kiệt put forward for health reasons resignation from the office of the Archbishop of Hanoi.
