Ngonye Falls

The Ngonyefälle, also Siomafälle, the Zambezi River some 250 km above the Victoria Falls in the Western Province in Zambia on 1002 m height.

The Ngonyefälle are difficult to reach and with 10-25 m height is not nearly as spectacular as the Victoria Falls, which are formed by the same geological upheavals like them. They form on basalt rocks, however, an almost perfect semicircle whose width impressed. Another special feature is that the water falls not only on the rocks, but also among them, because the are full of caverns. On this stand, is a feeling all its own, especially the water thundering there and listen to rave. About the Ngonyefällen the Zambezi is wide and flat, among them full of white water rapids in the cut in basalt canyons.

In the vicinity is the Sioma - Ngweizi National Park. The nearby village Sioma has a airstrip.
