Nguyễn Huy Thiệp

Huy Thiep Nguyễn ( born April 29, 1950 Thanh Tri district, Hanoi ) is a Vietnamese writer.

He was raised, along with his Buddhist mother had his grandfather Confucian influence on him.

His first literary works were published in 1986. Since 1990 he has worked as a freelance writer. He occupies an important place in the contemporary literature of Vietnam. With Nguyen's story The retired general, the " literature of renewal" began. Huy Nguyen Thiệps focus is short stories. He also writes plays and poems.

He has two children and lives in Hanoi, where he runs a restaurant.
