Nicholas Bullen

Nicholas James Bullen ( other variants: Nik Bullen, Nick Bullen, born 1968, Coventry ) is an English musician and sound artist. He became known as the founder of grindcore band Napalm Death.

Life

Bullen was born in Coventry and grew up in Meriden, a village about 10 kilometers from Birmingham, on. As a teenager he became interested in music. Initially his main influences were British punk bands such as The Damned and Stiff Little Fingers, and later hardcore punk bands like Black Flag, Discharge and Chaos UK were added. 1981, at the age of 13, he founded Napalm Death and took over bass and vocals. After numerous line-up changes Justin K. Broadrick came to Napalm Death, with his bull wrote the entire A- side of the album Scum. Bull who wanted to follow musically other ways left Napalm Death in 1986 again. From 1991 to 1995 he was active together with Mick Harris in the Scorn Industrial project. Furthermore, he took in 1994 with Bill Laswell Album Bass Terror on. From the mid- 1990s bull was no longer active as a musician, completed and developed online learning software in computer science. However, he continued to compose music, which he initially but not published. From the mid- 2000s he devoted himself to various projects. With Simon Mabbott was released under Electronica project Black Galaxy 2007 EP and in 2007 founded the record label Monium. He composed the music for the 2007 experimental radio play Showdown at the Pig Palace of Mark and Steve Beasley, which was released in 2008 on CD. Since the late 2000s to cops dedicated to the field recording. He presented the first results in 2012 on the Supersonic Festival in his hometown of Birmingham, in May 2013 his solo debut Component fixation appeared on Type Records.
