Nicholas Ridley, Baron Ridley of Liddesdale

Nicholas Ridley, Baron Ridley of Liddesdale, PC ( born February 17, 1929 † March 4, 1993 ) was a British politician. He was a member of the cabinet of Margaret Thatcher as Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.

In 1979 he was appointed by the new British Conservative government as the new negotiator for the Falkland Islands. After a trip to the islands he proposed to hand over sovereignty to Argentina, but to lease the islands to the Hong Kong model to the inhabitants indefinitely. His proposal did not consent Neither the Islanders in Parliament. In September 1981 Ridley was replaced by Richard Luce; 1 April 1982 began the Falklands War.

1990 Ridley was forced to resign because of an interview in the British magazine The Spectator. In this interview he expressed the view that we are dealing with the European Economic and Monetary Union to a German feint, with the aim to achieve the domination of Europe (a German racket designed to take over the whole of Europe), which is why the transfer of sovereign powers to the European Community is just as bad as if you übertrüge these rights Hitler.

He was raised as Baron Ridley of Liddesdale, of Willi Mont Wick in the County of Northumberland for life peer in 1992.
