Nick Allder
Nick Allder, born Nicholas John Allder ( born February 10, 1943 in Buckinghamshire, England ) is a VFX Supervisor, with the Alien 1980 - The sinister creature from another world the Oscar in the category Best received visual effects.
Life
His father, John Allder was a camera technician. He began his career as a cameraman for commercials. Eight years later he moved into the area of special effects. Here he worked in the 1970s on the television series Moonbase Alpha 1 and sci-fi movies like Alien Attack: The aliens strike and The Empire Strikes Back.
In 1980 he was awarded with Alien - The sinister creature from another world along with HR Giger, Carlo Rambaldi, Brian Johnson and Denys Ayling the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. For the fantasy film Legend 1986 he was nominated for the BAFTA Award. In his second nomination for this award in 1998 for The Fifth Element, he finally got it in the category Best Visual Effects.
He currently heads the special effects department of Media Pro Studios in Romania.
