Nico Mattan
Nico Mattan ( born July 17, 1971 in Izegem ) is a former Belgian cyclist.
Mattan 1994 pro. In the meantime, he had to interrupt his career due to heart problems.
He was regarded as a specialist in classic one-day races, but also able to achieve good results in the prologue time trial. One of his most important victories he achieved in 2005 at the ProTour race Gent- Wevelgem, although he benefited from a motorcycle, which brought him close again to Juan Antonio Flecha, who already looked like the sure winner.
In 2000, Mattan was suspended for four months because he had taken the illicit stimulant Heptaminol.
After the 2007 season, he finished his career.
