Nico & Vinz
Nico & Vinz are a Norwegian hip-hop and Afro-pop duo that was known under the name of Envy by 2013. It consists of a native of Oslo musicians Nico Sereba and Vincent " Vinz " Dery.
Career
Nico Sereba and Vinz Dery born in Oslo and grew up and have Ivorian and Ghanaian roots. The African influence can be heard in their music. With almost 17 years, the two Norwegians in 2009 banded together under the name of Envy. Two years later she took part in the International Youth Festival Emergenza and were able to win the finals of the Tauber Valley Festival. In the same year they had with the piece One Song her first hit in the Norwegian charts. The video for the song was awarded a Spellemannprisen, the most important Norwegian music award.
In spring 2012 they released their debut album The Magic Soup and the Bittersweet Faces. Although it was also in the charts, but was able to hold only a week in it. A second single from this album, Go Loud, did not come in the charts. After that they went long on tour in order to increase their popularity, and wrote new songs. The big breakthrough came a year later in spring 2013 with the song Am I Wrong. It debuted on the charts at number two and was subsequently published in the neighboring countries, where it also reached number two and number five in Finland, Sweden and Denmark. Nico & Vinz have been awarded with platinum. In the same year she had another top five hit with In Your Arms. On December 11, they were one of the performers at the concert event commemorating the award of the Nobel Peace Prize. For the success of this year they were also awarded with a European Border Breakers Award.
Beginning of 2014 were called the musicians in Nico & Vinz to and signed a contract with the major label Warner Music to launch a global career over the northern European countries also. Their hit Am I Wrong was released on February 21 in the German speaking countries and could immediately place in the front ranks of the download charts.
