Nicola Rodigari

Nicola Rodigari ( born November 7, 1981 in Tirano ) is an Italian Shorttracker.

Rodigari 1998 which took part in international races. In the short track speed skating World Youth Championship but he resigned from all three routes already in the semifinals, also at the World Team Championships, he was with the Italian season only fifth. In 1999, he went for the second time at the Junior World Championship at the start, this time he won the silver medal in the 1500 m distance. In the other race, Rodigari suggested also good, so in October 1999 he was allowed to participate in Montreal on short track speed skating World Cup for the first time, where he was eliminated in the quarter- finals, however. And in its future World Cup appearances in this season he missed getting the final.

At the Junior World Championship 2000 Rodigari won over 500 yards his first major title before he won silver in the 1500m Super Final, in which only the top eight athletes in the previous competitions were allowed to go to the start. In the World Team Championships that year with the Italian team Rodigari won both the 500 -m and about 1000 m distance. One week later held single World Cup in March 2000, ended early for Rodigari as his World Cup appearances, he never reached the semifinals. In the second World Cup race of the season 2000/ 01 he managed to reach the final of the draw, but he missed the podium. The 2001/02 season started for Rodigari with qualifying for the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and the first World Cup victory in Amsterdam on the 3000 meters. At the European Championships in January 2002, he won four medals, including a gold in the 500 -meter track. At the Olympic short track speed skating competitions him but the finals was denied in a single discipline, but he won the team silver medal. In the World Cup 2002/ 03 Rodigari reached back several times to the podium, he also was with the squadron European champion and won some medals at the World Team Championships in 2003., But this he did not succeed in taking place in Poland single World Cup for the umpteenth time.

While import more podiums in the next World Cup in 2003/ 04, he did not succeed the second World Cup victory. For this, he was eighth in the World Cup, which meant his first top- 10 ranking there. In addition Rodigari was first all-around European Champion and also won his first World Cup medal with the team. In the following two winters World Cup he did not take part in all World Cup races, so that explain its poorer rankings in the Overall World Cup. However, he qualified for the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, where he reached the seventh place on the 500 meters. At the World Championships 2006 he narrowly missed a medal when he finished fourth over 1000 meters.

The first individual medal at senior major events won Rodigari then at the short track speed skating World Cup 2007, where he was behind Apolo Anton Ohno second over 1500 meters. He was also in the 2006/07 season third in the 1,000 m World Cup, this distance also celebrated his next World Cup victory. No other successes he succeeded in the 2007/ 08 season.
