Biography

Nicolaes Gillis was born in Antwerp and probably moved with his parents to the northern Netherlands. He held demonstrably 1612-1632 in the northern Dutch city of Haarlem. Gillis married in 1615 in Haarlem, the native of Bruges Tanneken Abeels. In 1622 he is mentioned only as a painter of flowers in a file from Haarlem.
