Nicolás Bravo

Nicolás Bravo Rueda ( born September 10, 1786 in Chichihualco, Guerrero (Mexico), † April 22, 1854 ) was a Mexican military and politicians.

Life

Bravo Rueda fought in the Mexican War of Independence (1810-1821) on the part of José María Morelos in the south of the country, but was captured in 1817 and in 1820 released.

After the proclamation of the Plan of Iguala by Agustín de Iturbide he pulled a with the Army of the Three Guarantees on September 27, 1821 in Mexico City.

He opposed the coronation Iturbide. After his abdication Bravo became vice president under President Guadalupe Victoria. As a supporter of the dictator Antonio López de Santa Anna, he took three times briefly president. During the war between Mexico and the U.S. Bravo was commander of the Military Academy of Chapultepec. In the Battle of Chapultepec he was captured by U.S. troops and then withdrew from politics.

Bravo was a Mason, 1823-1827, he was the Grand Master in politics very influential lodge ( Scottish Rite ) in Mexico.
