Nicolas Lancret

Nicolas Lancret ( born January 22, 1690 in Paris, † September 14, 1743 ) was a French painter. His work is attributable to the Rococo.

Lancret stepped forward in 1708 in the studio of the academic painter Pierre Dulin ( 1669-1748 ) a. He joined in 1712 in the studio of Claude Gillot ( 1673-1722 ), where he was trained to 1718 and with his university friend Antoine Watteau ( 1684-1721 ) befriended.

He was a member of the Paris Academy in 1719 and in 1735 the Council. He has a lot of pictures painted: gallant festivities, balls, fairs, village weddings, which closely adjoin the manner of Watteau and also the same, mostly borrowed from the theater show Arcadian shepherd figures.

You are probably accurate, but performed less witty and lively. Also had Lancret not so fine feeling for nature. His landscapes are conventional and of a false blue-green mood. His overall tone is colder than the Cretaceous and Watteau. The Louvre possesses him four paintings depicting the seasons, the turtle doves and the Bird's Nest. 26 of his paintings are in the royal palaces in Berlin and Potsdam. After his work has been much stung.
