Nicolas Vallet

Nicolas Vallet (* 1583 in Corbeny at Laon; ? † after 1642 in Amsterdam ()) was a Dutch composer sound of French descent.

Vallet, who was a Huguenot, had to flee from France to the Netherlands. In Amsterdam, he worked as a freelance musician, sound teacher and owner of a dance school. His major work, " Le Secret des Muses " contains compositions and arrangements for the 10chörige renaissance lute. It appeared in 1615 and 1616 in two parts. He was one of the last composers for this instrument before it was superseded by the baroque lute. He also composed or 1615 21 Psalms of David and in 1622 the Regia pietas for voice and lute.
