Nicolaus Cracoviensis

Nicolaus Cracoviensis or Nicholas of Krakow (Polish Mikołaj z Krakowa, * in Krakow, † 1550 ) was a Polish composer.

Little is known about his life circumstances. 1488 appears his name in the archives of the University of Cracow, and it is believed that he was organist at the Cracow court. In Polish organ tablatures, including the Johannes von Lublin tablature ( 1537-48 ) and the Cracow Tablature (1548 ) are parts of fairs and Uffizi, motets, polyphonic songs, dances and preludes narrated by him, show an Italian influence.

Best known is his choral work Alec nade mna Wenus ( You, Venus, about me) remained.
