Geography
Niederstriegis is located about 7.5 miles southeast of downtown chub and five kilometers west of the old town at the confluence of Roßweins Striegis in the Freiberger Mulde.
History
Niederstriegis was first mentioned in documents as Streguz in 1309.
Before its dissolution with effect from 1 January 2013, the municipality Niederstriegis consisted of the following districts:
- Niederstriegis
- Mahlitzsch
- Hohenlauft
- Littdorf
- Otzdorf
She belonged to the incorporation into the city to manage Community Roßwein. The individual districts were marked by historical estates and mansions.
During the industrialization various operations was built ( chemical plant Aropharm in Niederstriegis, paper mill in Grunau ) in the in the valley districts. After German reunification, they were closed.
In former knight's seat in Mahlitzsch remembers a small castle ruins today.

Economy and infrastructure
Transport links
Between Littdorf and Otzdorf in the West B results 169 to Niederstriegis over. The place is also on the A14 connection chub -east (about 10 km) and the A 4 port Berber village or Hainichen away (around 15 km). The railway line Borsdorf - Coswig performs Niederstriegis and has a need within the village breakpoint.
