Nielsen Media Research is an American market research company based in New York City. It identifies more than 50 years the gross advertising expenditure in the Above-the - line media in Germany and the types of media direct mail, Online, At- Retail Media and transport media. In addition, Nielsen Media Research measures the advertising creations in the various media. Nielsen Media Research provides its customers a combination of the statistical data and advertising creations available and supports them with services such as media and advertising research, as well as special individual analysis and software solutions.

Nielsen Media Research has employees in over 40 countries. Its customers include leading consumer goods manufacturers, retailers and service companies in the media and entertainment industry, advertising agencies and media agencies.

The company was founded in 1946 as Dr. Kapferer & Dr. Schmidt Society for Economic Analysis and market research. In 1967 it was renamed the Schmidt & Pohlmann Society of advertising statistics, in 1969 there was a collaboration with other research institutes. In 1979, the company ACNielsen to 100 percent and established the AC Nielsen Advertising Research S P GmbH. Following a restructuring of the later ACNielsen Parent Company's Dun & Bradstreet 1996, Nielsen Media Research was spun off as an independent company.
