Nigel Napier, 14th Lord Napier

Francis Nigel Napier, 14th Lord Napier, 5th Baron Ettrick ( born December 5, 1930; † 15 March 2012) was a Scottish nobleman, member of the House of Lords and officer.

Family

Nigel Napier was the son of Lt.- Colonel William Francis Cyril James Hamilton Napier, 13th Lord Napier, 4th Baron Ettrick and his wife Violet Muir Newson was born, the daughter of Sir Percy Wilson Newson, 1st Baronet. Nigel Napier married Delia Mary was born 1958 Pearson. The marriage produced two sons and two daughters were born, including the heir Francis David Charles Napier, 15th Lord Napier ( b. 1962 ).

Life

Nigel Napier attended Eton and then struck a military career. He attended Sandhurst and served from 1950 in the Scots Guards in Malaysia. After his father died in 1954, he inherited the title of 14th Lord Napier, 5th Baron Ettrick, and 11th Baronet of Nova Scotia and associated with the title of baron seat in the House of Lords. He was also chief of Clan Napier. After his retirement as an officer, he was from 1958 to 1960 Equerry ( Master of the Horse ) by Henry, Duke of Gloucester, and from 1973 to 1998 private secretary to Princess Margaret. Until his death he was still her treasurer. His claim to a seat in the upper house was extinguished in 1999 by the House of Lords Act.
