Nikola Pilić

Nikola " Niki " Pilić ( born August 27, 1939 in Split ) is a former Croatian tennis player and tennis coach.

In the fifties and sixties he was a successful tennis player. He won four tournaments in his career, before moving to the professional tennis players, and was the most successful Croatian ( Yugoslav ) Tennis players up to the days of Goran Ivanisevic.

When Davis Cup captain, he won the German team to Boris Becker 1988, 1989 and 1993 with Michael Stich the Davis Cup. In 2005 he won with the Croatian team. In 2010, he worked as an advisor to the Serbian winning teams.

Pilić operates a training center and tennis boarding school for young players in the Munich district. Among his pupils were many players from the former Yugoslavia, including Novak Djokovic.
