Nikola Pokrivač

Nikola Pokrivač (born 26 November 1985 on Čakovec ) is a Croatian football player.

Career

Pokrivač appeared as a child first his hometown club NK Čakovec at. Later he moved to first division side NK Varteks Varaždin, where he played high from the youth to the first team. With a young age he made his debut in the first Croatian league and the age of 20 he was already a regular for Varteks. With the club he was from 2004 to 2006 fifth and fourth of the League and also took part in the qualifying competitions for the UEFA Cup without having to qualify.

After a further six months in Varaždin, he was headhunted by the then reigning Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb, where he immediately held a regular place in midfield. At the end of the season was winning the Croatian championship and the national cup for Pokrivač.

Due to the international appearances in the Champions League qualifiers and UEFA Cup foreign clubs were quickly aware of the Croats and after his second half year in Zagreb, in which the player rather centrally defensively used with five league goals proved too offensive qualities, he went during the winter break for AS Monaco in the first division in France.

Since 2001, Nikola Pokrivač is also a candidate for the representative teams of the Croatian Football Federation. In the U -17 and U-19 national teams, he was frequently used and put the 2005/2006 also reflected in the U21. For the national team, he was, however, first used on May 24, 2008 in a preseason game just before the 2008 European football championships in Austria and Switzerland. Therefore, it was also somewhat surprising that he was accepted as a freshman immediately in the Croatian Championship squad. He even played in the European Championship group match against Poland by 90 minutes, which won Croatia 1-0.

For the season 2009/10 he moved to the reigning Austrian champions FC Red Bull Salzburg. With the Salzburg he could win all group matches of the UEFA Europa League in the fall of 2009, but retired a lap later against Standard Liege. Under coach Huub Stevens he enjoyed the status as a regular player and was able to celebrate with the team in 2010 to the championship title. After the coaching change Nikola quickly became the audience and plays in the system by new coach Ricardo Moniz no longer matters. It may be since the summer of 2011, looking at a corresponding end offer, a new club.
