Nikolai Svanidze

Nikolai Karlovich Svanidze (Russian Николай Карлович Сванидзе; born April 2, 1955 in Moscow ) is a Russian television journalist. He works as a political commentator on government-related tele channel Rossiya and moderates the TV magazine Serkalo.

Life

Svanidze completed a study of history at Moscow University in 1977 and then worked at the Institute of Canada and the United States of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In television, he began in 1991, since 1992 he was a commentator on the news program Vesti. In February 1997, he was named Boris Yeltsin appointed head of the Russian state media holding WGTRK, he accompanied that post until May 1998. The Russian television viewers, he was known as a presenter of the magazines Kontrasty, Podrobnosti and today Serkalo. Critics considered Svanidze as a faithful follower of the Kremlin.
