Nikolai Viktorovich Zykov (Russian Николай Викторович Зыков; born May 8, 1965 in Moscow ) is a Soviet and Russian actor, director, artist, puppet designer and puppeteer.

Personal background

Nikolai Zykov was born in 1965 in Moscow into a family of engineers, whose life was not related to the art. He is the son of Viktor Zykov, a physicist, inventor and candidate of sciences and Tatiana Sykowa (born Smyslova ) a teacher.

As Zykov was five years old, his parents sent him to the puppet theater of Sergei Obraztsov, which belonged to the great great uncle of Nikolai Zykov.

After training Zykov opened his own theater in his house and put puppet performances for his parents and his younger sister. His dolls were compositions of individual, which were wrapped with wire.

Zykov began making dolls for his puppetry in 1977. In 1980 he made ​​his first doll called Vignette. In 1985 he created his first solo puppetry and founded his own professional Nikolai Zykov Theatre.
