Nikolay Bunge

Nikolai Christianovich Bunge (Russian Николай Христианович Бунге, German: .. .. Nikolai Karl Paul Bunge; * 11 Novemberjul / November 23 1823greg in Kiev; † 3 Junijul / June 15 1895greg in Sarskoje Selo ) was a Russian Finance Minister.

Nikolai Bunge was the son of veterinarian Christian Gottlieb Bunge (* 1776 in Kiev, † 1857) and the grandson of George Frederick Bunge.

Bunge was a professor at the University of Kiev 1859-1880 and their dean. He was a supporter of moderate liberalism, of private property and free enterprise ( he thought it necessary to limit state intervention in the economy ), and a critic of the socialist and communist doctrines.
