Nikos Perakis

Nikos Perakis (Greek Νίκος Περάκης; born September 11, 1944 in Alexandria ) is a Greek stage designer, production designer, film director and screenwriter.

The son of a Greek merchant, grew up in Athens and graduated from high school at the local high school Dörpfeld the German School of Athens. 1962 to 1965 he studied at the Academy of Arts in Munich. At the same time he worked as a stage designer at various theaters in Munich and was from 1964 Design Assistant at Bayerischer Rundfunk and at Bavaria Film.

After his military service in Greece, he returned in 1969 in the Federal Republic back. He was active again as a stage designer and came up with this way to the movie. He designed the decorations for films by Volker Schlöndorff, Reinhard Hauff and others. In 1971 he co-founded the Film Workshop ULM ( Independent play of light Manufactory).

From 1972, Perakis drew responsible as a director and screenwriter. Especially the caper comedy Bomber & Paganini (1976 ) with Mario Adorf and Tilo Prückner made ​​his name known. Since the early 1980s, he worked increasingly in Greece.
