Nikos Sarganis

Sarganis Nikolaos (Greek Νικόλαος Σαργκάνης, born January 15, 1954 in Rafina ) is a former Greek football player.

Nikolaos Sarganis, began his career at the Athens club Ilisiakos. After Sarganis initially acted as a defender, his coach Christos Rimpas put him on the position of the goalkeeper, after he had discovered his extraordinary talent. In 1978, Sarganis to FC Kastoria and stayed there for two years under contract. After Sarganis 1980 could win the Greek Cup with club Kastoria, the Greek players observers were aware of him quickly. So it was that he moved in 1980 to Olympiakos Piraeus, where he was in the next few years in addition to three championships (1981, 1982, 1983 ) once more to win the Cup (1981). In 1985 Sarganis to archrival Olympiakos Panathinaikos Athens. With Panathinaikos Sarganis finally had its most successful period and could next three championships (1986, 1990, 1991 ) and four Cup victories (1986, 1988, 1989, 1991) in 1988 to win the Supercup. His career ended Sarganis the Athenian club Athinaikos.

In addition to his career at club level Nikolaos Sarganis belonged for years to the permanent staff of the Greek national team and came to a total of 58 missions. Besides participating in the European Football Championship 1980, the 1-0 away win against Denmark was on 15 October 1980 in Copenhagen at the height of his career. Sarganis convinced in this game by above-average performance and defeated a variety of opponent chances. The Danish press gave Sarganis up the nickname Phantom, who accompanied him to the end of his career.
