Nikoxenos Painter

The nominee with the Notnamen Niko Xenos painter was an Attic vase painter of the black - and red-figured style.

The Niko Xenos painter was one of the few painters who worked apparently of their own accord in two great color styles. Amphorae and Peliken he painted in the black-figure style that is strongly reminiscent of the works of Leagros group. His hydriai ( Kalpiden with continuous profile ) are already in the tradition of the new style. The Niko Xenos painter worked better in black than in the red-figured style. His pupil was the Eucharides Painter, there are also theories, according to which both painters were the same person. The work of the painter are at the end of the 6th and the beginning of the 5th century BC.
