Nils Collett Vogt

Nils Collett Vogt ( * September 24, 1864 in Oslo, † December 23, 1937 ) was a Norwegian writer of the New Romanticism.

Life

Vogt was the son of the engineer Jens Theodor Paludan Vogt and his wife Johanne Collett. He rebelled against his conservative family, and was then sent to the Hamar Cathedral School. There he learned Tryggve Andersen, with whom developed a close friendship. After his graduation Vogt studied from 1884 to 1887 Jura. He then worked as a journalist and has traveled to Denmark and Italy. He lived a long time in Sicily and France.

Vogt's work consists of prose, dramas, songs of the working and especially poems. He criticizes in his works the conservative bourgeoisie.
