Nilüfer Göle

Nilufer Gole ( born 1953 in Ankara ) is a Turkish sociologist who teaches in France.

Life

Nilufer Gole from 1986 to 2001 as a high school teacher at Boğaziçi Üniversitesi in Istanbul, where she qualified as a professor in 1988. Since 2001 she has Direct Rice d' études at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales ( EHESS ), Centre d'Analyse et d'Intervention sociologiques ( CADIS ), in Paris. Göle was a visiting professor at the University of Michigan, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and at the New School for Social Research in New York City. She also worked at the Rockefeller Study and Conference Center, Bellagio and at the Institute for Advanced Study Berlin.

Göles fields of work are Islamic studies, secularism, art, and gender-specific studies.

It was 2012 honorary doctor of the University of Lüneburg.
