Nimrod Islands

The Nimrod Group was a group of islands, said to have been sighted in 1828 by the Nimrod under Captain Eilbeck on the trip from Sydney to Cape Horn. The approximate location was at 56 ° S, 158 ° W.

Attempts to recover the islands failed 1831 revealed by John Biscoe seal fishing grounds in the South Pacific and found at the coordinates of Nimrod only open sea.

John King Davis could find in 1909 on the return trip from the Nimrod expedition with the Nimrod Nimrod, neither the Group nor the phantom islands Dougherty and Emerald coincidentally the same name.
