Nina Gordon

Nina Rachel Shapiro Gordon ( born 1967) is an American rock musician. She was in the 1990s singer and guitarist of the band Veruca Salt, and is active as a solo artist since her exit from the band.

Life

Nina Gordon was born in 1967 as the daughter of a lawyer from Chicago. She studied art history and French literature at Tufts University. In 1993 she founded together with Louise Post the alternative rock band Veruca Salt in Chicago. Gordon's brother Jim Shapiro rose, as a drummer as well. After two albums, which were both placed in the American charts, she left the band in 1998 in battle.

In the same year she performed as a guest singer on the solo album of the Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha. In 1999, she recorded her first solo album on Maui with producer Bob Rock.

Their next album she recorded with Ethan Johns, however, it was not published, despite completion. Only in 2006 appeared a second album, Bleeding Heart Graffiti, which was again produced by Bob Rock.
