Nine Circles

Nine Circles is a Dutch- German minimal electro band. The name comes from the "nine circles of hell" ( "Nine Circles of Hell" ), which describes Dante Alighieri in his Divine Comedy.

Nine Circles 1980-1982 - The Beginning

Nine Circles were established in 1980 in Amsterdam by Lidia "The Rose" Fiala and Peter van Garderen. Van Garderen first played in the formation Genetic Factor (along with Richard Zijlstra and Jan Snijders ), a little later he met Lidia Fiala know who wrote poems and lyrics since the age of 15.

Richard Zijlstra worked at VPRO moderated and there a show called " Spleen ". This was New Wave bands a chance to be known through the radio. Man sent his demo tapes at VPRO and the best bands had the opportunity to play live on the radio and appearing on the compilation " Radio Nome ". Nine Circles got the live radio deal and thus the possibility to LP to appear. However, it decided to work as a studio band and hence eliminating the live performances. Van Garderen and Fiala were now entered into a relationship and developed around 60 songs, of which up to 2013 more than half were released on various CDs and LPs within 2 years. In 1982, the couple separated and thus the temporary end of Nine Circles was sealed. Fiala later lived in a new relationship and cared for exclusively by their partner and children. The music carried it aside for it, but they continued to write poems and lyrics.

Nine Circles 2009-2011 - the rebirth

Lidia Fiala moved to Cologne in 2009 to their new partner. Her youngest son, Patrick, who had remained in the Netherlands, rummaged through the internet at this time and made them aware that the interest for Nine Circles was still very large. Fiala was very surprised, because for 25 years she had not spoken about the music and the meaning of the lyrics. After many considerations and suggestions from her friends, she decided to leave Nine Circles revive. Peter van Garderen had built a new life in the years and was happy as it was. Unfortunately, the music had no more in it, but he has continued to support the reactivation of the project by, among others, also gave to the old Fiala existing material space. It opened in early 2010 with keyboardist Joachim Saleina together, gave various concerts and also developed some new songs. Although both were on the same wavelength musically, it became increasingly clear over time that there were irreconcilable differences between two human so that Fiala had to separate the end of 2011 Saleina and Nine Circles again "die" to threatened.

Nine Circles from 2012

Through Facebook and Myspace to Lidia Fiala and Per-Anders Kurenbach learned (Psyche, Shock Therapy, The Eternal Afflict ) know and realized that they were floating musically on the same shaft and played their first concert in late May of the same year in Lyon ( France). Since we had never seen before and could not rehearse was on the gig - spontaneously improvised - with success. Since then, there are regular concerts and news from Nine Circles.
