The Eternal Afflict

The Eternal Afflict is a music project from Essen, which was founded in 1989.

History

Influenced by groups such as Christian Death, Bauhaus or Virgin Prunes were forming in 1989 The Eternal Afflict. Mark was looking for a singer for a new project and found him in cyan. Previously, under the name Romantic Affliction, they released three demo tapes.

In 1991 the debut album Atroci ( -me ) ty, 1992 followed by the EP ( Luminographic ) Agony appeared. Available on both is the best known and most popular track: San Diego, which is still played in clubs.

1994 was a dark year for the band, as Mark and cyan decided on the basis of inconsistencies and the album was due to different worldviews, dissolve the band. Notable projects after the separation: Cyan Kills E.Coli and Inside where they worked partially.

Four years later, 1998, the Retrospective Collection Nothing Meant Forever was released, as a small indication that The Eternal Afflict are not gone forever out of the limelight. The band played in this year, the first concert after the separation on the 4th Woodstage Summer Open Air in Glauchau.

2001, decided Cyan, Mark and Winus to add another album. Just to see if the collaboration works. In addition, it managed not to actually draw a line under The Eternal Afflict.

For the album catharsis they left some time and published only in 2003, as well as the CDM Godless to the Wave -Gotik-Treffen, where she also appeared. In the meantime, they played a few concerts in Germany and Belgium. A year later, the CDM Black Heritage a rock -heavy publication, which provided not only for positive surprises to the fans was published. Otherwise, 2004 was a pretty quiet year for The Eternal Afflict.

In 2005, the album Euphoric & Demonic, took up the old elements, however, also techno influences not denied appeared.

2006 Best Of album " R (e ) alict Or Requiem" was released on the Label DARK DIMENSIONS.

2009 Szenehit " San Diego " was published in a newly arranged version as " San Diego 2K9 " in collaboration with the band Qntal. Besides various remixes of the title track, among others, Project Pitchfork, Die Krupps, Noisuf -X and other bands from the electrical environment, the EP also includes a remastered version of " ( Luminographic ) Agony" and 2 live videos from the year 2005.

Style

The style of The Eternal Afflict commuted until the dissolution in 1994 in the Dark Wave and Electro -Wave environment. With the later revival band also changed the sound, there were increased efforts to electro, techno and rock elements.
