Ninjatō

The Ninjato [ nin.dʑa.to ː ] (Japanese忍者 刀) is a straight short sword, which is used for Ninjutsu.

Description

It is sometimes claimed that there had been at Ninjato to the usual sword of the Japanese Ninja. In fact, however, finds no evidence for this in historical documents and presentations. Many consider it instead for an invention of modern Western ninja imitators, for example, Stephen K. Hayes. It is described as follows:

The ninja sword said to have been in contrast to the Katana Samurai usually carried diagonally on the back. This was supposed to allow for greater freedom of movement of the wearer: When climbing and sneaking a long sword at his side would have been simply a hindrance. From these results, the transceiver in a nutshell: A long sword would be very difficult to pull over his shoulder from the vagina. Also resulted from this particular sword fighting another way than that of the samurai.

However, this carrying method is regarded as unhistorical as it is neither a quick drawing another Replacing the blade allowed and also hinders or prevents many combat moves (about rolling forward or sideways ). Likewise, a normal katana can be pushed in Obi back to the hip when it should not hinder the side. Also the statement that Ninjato would have been used as a crowbar or a climbing aid, is illogical, since all Japanese blades are too delicate, as that could be ramming into walls or trees and then the weight of the whole body depends on it. Both Ninjato and Katana Wakizashi or would break.
