Ninurta-apal-Ekur

Ninurta apil - Ekur was a mittelassyrischer king. After the Assyrian king list he reigned three years, another list is in 13 years.

Government

According to the Assyrian King List, he was the son of Ili - pada, a descendant of Eriba -Adad, who had gone to Karduniaš ( Babylonia ) into exile. His father Ili - pada was a descendant of Eriba- Adad I (1390-1364) and sukallu rabi'u and SAR of Hanilgabat under Ashur nārāri III. ( 1202-1197 ). He must have possessed great power, persuaded him Adad - šuma - wearing-away of Babylon, but as king of Assyria. Borger assumes that this was simply meant as an insult to the real king, which would be consistent with the other tone of the letter that accused the king of laziness and drunkenness and the surprisingly present as new - Assyrian copy. Ninurta apil - Ekur refers to himself in his inscriptions partly as a son of Eriba -Adad.

Ninurta apil - Ekur came back from the Babylonian exile and ripped, probably with the support of the Kassites, the throne. During his reign, a major earthquake is evidence that destroyed the Temple of Ishtar in Assyria.

Title

He took the title King of the empire, governor of Enlil and Ninurta and has been recognized in numerous inscriptions.

Chronology

Ninurta apil - Ekur ruled either 13 (older Assyrian King List, NAKL ) or three years. Hornung has spoken out for the short, Michael Rowton for the long chronology. Most researchers prefer the lower duration, Freydank has his rule, however, eleven to Limu ( Saporetti contrast, not a single ). For the mittelassyrische time (about 1500-1000 BC. ) Are incomplete Eponymenlisten. Recently Jaume Llop has presented a sequence of eponyms, which confirms the long reign, though not covering the entire 13 years.

  • Salmānu - Zera - iqīša
  • Liptānu
  • Salmānu - Sumu - lešir
  • Erib - Ashur
  • Marduk - AHA - Eris
  • Pišqīja

The next year, followed Ninurta apil e-course - son Ashur -dan as eponym. Llop assumes that the mittelalssyrischen kings occupied this office in its first year of reign.

Ninurta apil - Ekur was certainly a contemporary of Meli- Schipak of Babylon. A wedge shaft text from Assur shows that Meli- Schipak gave him a team of horses and blankets.
