Nippon Oil

Nippon Oil Corporation (NOC; jap新 日本 石油 株式会社, Shin Nihon Sekiyu Kabushiki - gaisha ) is a Nikkei 225, ISIN JP3679700009, listed on Japanese oil and chemical companies. The company is active in the fields of oil production and importation as well as the refining of crude oil; the manufacture and sale of petroleum products.

The products are sold under the brand name ENEOS as a portmanteau between Energy and Neos sold (Greek for "new"), which is also the brand name of petroleum filling stations.

Nippon Oil Corporation is the largest oil company, headquartered in Japan, and in recent years it has expanded its activities to other countries. 4,222 people are employed by the company.

History

The company was founded on 10 May 1888 the name Yugen Kaisha Sekinin Nihon Sekiyu (有限 责任 日本 石油 会 社, Eng. Nippon Oil ). In January 1894, the Nihon Sekiyu KK was renamed (日本 石油 株式会社). After the takeover of the oil company Mitsubishi Sekiyu KK (三菱 石油 株式会社, Eng. Mitsubishi Oil ) on 1 April 1999, the renamed Nisseki -Mitsubishi KK (日 石 三菱 株式会社). On 27 June 2002 the company finally got its present name.

Nippon Oil Corporation is one of the core companies of Mitsubishi Group.
