Nishiki (bicycle)

Nishiki was the bicycle brand of the Japanese manufacturer KK Kawamura Cycle (株式会社 カワムラ サイクル, Kabushiki - gaisha Kawamura Saikuru ) in Kobe, Japan.

Nishiki was the trademark of Fahrradmanufaktur KK Kawamura Cycle in Kobe. After the earthquake in Kobe in 1995, the company ran into difficulties and the bicycle shop was on 18 October 1995 as the KK Kawamura (株式会社 カワムラ) hived based in the neighboring Miki. International were Nishiki in the 1970s, the racing bikes of the series " Olympic" and from the 1980 series " Prestige" known and widespread. The brand was one of the Rieger for the renowned Japanese Fahhradbauer how Miyata, Fuji, Bridgestone, Panasonic, Univega, Lotus and Centurion.

Kawamura Cycle was on 31 August 1995 also refounded, but as a wheelchair manufacturer.

The brand was sold in the U.S. in 1965 by the company West Coast Cyclein the USA. Under Nishiki Europe today (2013 ) distributed by European traders a number of trekking cross and road bikes, which, however, have nothing to do with the original manufacturer.
