Nitrobacter

Nitrifying bacteria, also called nitrifying bacteria or Salpeterbakterien are gram -negative aerobic bacteria that oxidize their metabolism by either ammonium ions to nitrite or nitrite ions to nitrate ( nitrification). They are thus the most important organisms in the nitrogen cycle. We distinguish the ammonium oxidizers whose genus name always starts with " nitroso- " of the Nitritoxidierern whose genus name always starts with " nitro ". Two very well-known genera Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter are.
