Noah Flug

Noach Flug, even Noah Flug ( born January 1, 1925 in Łódź, Poland, † August 11, 2011 in Jerusalem ) was a Polish- Israeli economist, diplomat and Holocaust survivor. His daughter is Karnit flight, Governor of the Israeli central bank.

Life

1939 Noach Flug was deported with his family to the ghetto of Łódź. In August 1944, the deportation to the concentration camp Auschwitz, Gross-Rosen and Mauthausen followed.

After the camp was liberated Ebensee ( a subcamp of Mauthausen concentration camp ) on 6 May 1945 by the U.S. Army Noach Flug successfully finished school in Łódź and studied economics there and in Warsaw.

In 1958 he emigrated with his newly formed family to Israel. In his professional life, he worked as an economist and diplomat, including Zurich and Bonn.

Last Noah was flight president of the International Auschwitz Committee ( IAC ), curator of the Jewish Claims Conference, a board member of the World Jewish Restitution Organization ( WJRO ), board member of the National Center for Psychosocial Support of Holocaust survivors and their families AMCHA (Hebrew for: Your people ) and the Yad Vashem. He was also chairman of the joint center of the organizations of Holocaust survivors in Israel.

Caused a stir Noach Flug in an open letter of 12 September 2006, in which he invited Iranian President Ahmadinejad to Auschwitz, to be convinced of the existence of the Holocaust: " In view of this assertion [ of the Holocaust is a myth ] I'm at the unambiguous conclusion that you lack the necessary knowledge in this matter, and I very much hope that your remarks are more due to your lack of knowledge as to malicious intent. Perhaps it is time that you improve your knowledge on this issue. "

At the same bat flight, to take part in the Iranian Holocaust conference that kept Ahmadinejad in December 2006 in Tehran: "I would be grateful if I would receive an invitation to join as head of a delegation of Holocaust survivors from Israel in this conference. That would be an opportunity to have a serious and useful discussion on this issue. "

Honors

Noach Flug was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, awarded by the German President Horst Köhler on 15 June 2006. The award was for the " decades-long commitment to the interests of Holocaust survivors and his incessant work for understanding between Jews and non-Jews and between Israel and Germany. "
